This powerhouse group specializes vintage in Jamaican Reggae, Rocksteady and Soul. They combine an electrifying danceability with soulful harmonies in a reverent update of a vintage style.

Lead by Spencer Cleave on Vocals and Sax, Phonosonics features the die-hard rhythm section of Al Udell on Bass and Ned Saric on Drums. Anthony Shackell brings expert trumpet skills to the mix, which also features Ellen Crossley on vocals, Will Lynch on keyboards, Aidan Snider on guitar, and various other local professionals who rotate in and out of the live band, flexing from 5 to 8 pieces.

After releasing several singles, the band released their debut EP, “Reggae Don’t Pay the Rent” in July of 2018 to rave reviews among the reggae community, including David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan on the BBC. They are hard at work on a full length album set to release in the summer of 2019 that will feature several well-known guest artists and will keep you feeling good til the wee hours of the morning.

Phonosonics has become a well-known name in the Victoria Jamaican music scene, sharing the stage with artists like The Wailers, and playing festivals such as RIFFLANDIA FESTIVAL and Victoria Ska and Reggae Festival / Society.
